Research Interests
I research the psychology of persuasion, misinformation, and information seeking in the context of computer-mediated communication, generative-AI, and other algorithmic/mediated communication systems.
Computer-Mediated Communication
Digital communication is the through-line of my research and informs my approach to communication research. From algorithmically-driven targeted advertisements to the use of generative AI for news media, I focus on the influence of technological tools on human communication.
Media Psychology
Media psychology is a subfield of psychology that focuses on the interaction between media and human behavior. I examine how media—particularly digital and algorithmically-driven media—affects individuals' thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Information and Knowledge Acquisition
Information seeking and knowledge acquisition are central to how individuals learn and make decisions in everyday life. Information sources can vary in veracity, accuracy, trustworthiness, and other factors that influence individuals' social behaviors and perceptions of the world. I study the underlying mechanisms that influence and underpin these perceptions, attitudes and resulting behaviors.
